Agent Hartley (first name unrevealed) is a Central Intelligence Agent in charge of Operation: Orchid, a military project to produce weapons-grade plastic explosive of volatile levels. The chief scientist in the project was Professor Parsons and included Agent Michaels, who was brought in after the fact. Although 75-pounds of the material had been created, Parsons eventually revealed that 25-pounds of the batch had been lost in the South Pacific. The lost crate eventually washed up in the lagoon where it was found by Gilligan and his monkey.
