New page

Bio
A Thermometer is a device that measures temperature or a temperature gradient using two important elements, a temperature sensor, such as the bulb on a mercury-in-glass thermometer in which some physical change occurs with temperature, and a means of converting the physical change into a numerical value on the visible scale marked on a mercury-in-glass thermometer, although there are various principles by which different thermometers operate. These include the thermal expansion of solids or liquids with temperature, or the change in pressure of a gas on heating or cooling. Radiation-type thermometers measure the infrared energy emitted by an object, allowing measurement of temperature without contact. On the Island, the Professor creates a thermometer to register the temperature of the local volcano. However, the idea seems ludicrous given the available materials the Professor's thermometer with which the Professor has. It is also unclear how he calibrates his thermometer to ensure accuracy.
